Chef/ Cook Wanted

We are looking for a chef to join our new venture ‘Errington’s’ where customers can eat our produce on the farm, the restaurant/ café is sited in an area of native woodland on two busy roads 22 miles from Edinburgh bypass, 5 miles from Biggar and 28 miles from Glasgow formerly called the Big Red Barn.  

We are looking for a dynamic chef with experience running a kitchen to help us achieve our goal of becoming a destination for cheese lovers and foodies as well as locals and people travelling between England and Scotland.  Breakfasts, lunch, afternoon tea daily.  Predominantly open during the day but there is the opportunity to open for weekends or supper clubs once a month etc – you will have the opportunity to put your stamp on it. 

We will also be opening a farm shop with a cheese counter initially and over the coming year plan to introduce a charcutterie and fresh meat so an interest in butchery would be an advantage.

We run a farm of 150 Dairy Goats and 400 Dairy sheep all the milk is made into cheese (Lanark Blue, Corra Linn, Bonnington Linn, Elrick Log & Blackmount) on the farm (Errington Cheese) all whey from the cheesemaking is fed to our Tamworth pigs so in addition to the cheese we have Lamb, mutton, goat meat & pork produced on the farm. We have two large poly crub tunnels where we can grow salad leaves and vegetables, and additional land can be converted into further vegetable gardens  if required. Woodland can be converted to agroforestry (chickens/eggs) 

  • Enjoys creating new dishes to showcase our cheese to its best advantage in lots of different ways
  • Attention to detail, ability to produce consistent high quality seasonal produce and meals
  • Experience running a happy and productive kitchen and enjoy training others
  • Team player, happy to get stuck in in other areas when required
  • Intermediate Food Hygine
  • Salary dependant on experience £25,000 + per year plus performance bonus dependent on experience
  • 40 hours per week 5 days including weekends
